Kokichi Mikimoto was credited with creating the world's first cultured pearl in 1893. He went on to establish his luxury pearl company Mikimoto, and the cultured pearl industry was born. This bespoke piece, circa 1980s, is crafted in high quality gold brocade silk with gold plated chain and silk lining. The handbag features three perfectly round cultured pearls on the front.
