On Saturday 8th June I hosted my 21st birthday dinner party with my closest friends and family. The theme was Vintage Glamour (of course). It was a fabulous night, one I will always remember. Everyone made me feel so special. I was delighted that most of my guests really took the theme seriously and looked positively glamorous. I wore an ASOS dress, vintage jewellery and 50’s style hair and make-up. It was hosted at 5 Ryneveld in Stellenbosch, a venue I would strongly recommend. The decor of our room (a wall of vintage mirrors, aged hardwood floors) in the converted Cape Dutch house just off Dorp Street complemented the theme perfectly and the service was excellent. Being the crafter I am, I DIYed some glitter tea-light holders and lace consol jars as flower vases for the table. I’ve noticed that some people these days skip the formal parties and instead go for a casual night on the town to celebrate their entering into adulthood, which is fine and well, but I knew that I wanted to go all-out for my birthday.
