Photographer Alfred Eisenstaedt (famous for that iconic photo of the sailer kissingthegirl in Times Square) did a street style series of photos for Life magazine in 1944 called "Beautiful Girls". These girls sure are beautiful, but I'm especially swooning over their beautiful outfits which wouldn't look out of place on the streets of South Africa today. It just goes to show how some silhouettes are truly timeless and will always be stylish, evennearly 80 years later!
The 1970s was undoubtedly one of the coolest decades of all time for fashion. Halternecks, high waisted trousers, bell bottoms and psychedelic prints were all the rage. Look at these pictures by photographer Nicholas DeWolf of Boston street style from the Summer of 1973.
Seeing the joy and love in the people’s expressions in these photos brought a smile to my face… Scroll down to see how regular couples of the 1940s dressed; from everyday ensembles, to special occasions or at the beach. Via Vintage Everyday
The 1920s has always been one of my favourite decades and these street style photos from that era prove just one of the reasons why. Fashion underwent a radical transformation, as hemlines and haircuts grew shorter, women started wearing more makeup and the iconic Flapper style was born. Images via Vintage Everyday
